Call for Expression of Interests for hosting Symposium 20

The year 2019 marks 20 years in a row that the annual WaterNet/WARFSA/GWPSA Symposia have been held uninterrupted in Eastern and Southern African regions with the ultimate aim for promoting interaction among policymakers, academics, practitioners from water and related sectors, and cooperating partners. The key actors in the water sector, have during this annual gatherings identify regional issues, gaps and priorities that require further research and support in pursuit of enhancing integrated water resources management in Eastern and Southern Africa. Great emphasis has always been placed on integration of knowledge, particularly involving scholars from the natural, medical and social sciences.
Countries in the SADC region as well as in Kenya and Uganda rotate in hosting this annual event. This year the 19thWaterNet/WARFSA/GWPSA symposium will be convened in Livingstone, Zambia from 31 October – 2 November 2018.  WaterNet is therefore, calling for expression of interests for hosting the 20th WaterNet/WARFSA/GWPSA Symposium in 2019. During this event, activities for celebrating WaterNet's 20 years for carrying out capacity building activities related to integrated water resources management (IWRM) in Southern and parts of Eastern Africa focusing on education, research, short professional courses and outreach will be lined up.

Submissions should highlight the following:

  1. Country, city and venue where the symposium will take place (indicate capacity of the proposed venue both conferencing and accommodation)
  2. The proposed theme of the Symposium (Though this can be refined later)
  3. Organisations which will be part of the Local Organising Committee
  4. Anticipated organisations which will provide support in cash and in kind
  5. How the event will be marketed locally and internationally
  6. Nature of technical support that will be required from WaterNet
